Teacher's founder Adam Teacher built Ardmore in 1898 beside the railway at Kennethmont to secure a peated malt for the family blend.

Ardmore remains an operating Scotch whisky distillery at Kennethmont, Aberdeenshire. Its present identity joins the accumulated fabric of the site to an active production tradition, while discontinued bottlings belong to the range history rather than defining the distillery today.
