Distinct house style

Auchentoshan is distinguished by triple distillation, producing a light Lowland spirit with citrus, nuts, cereal sweetness, and a smooth texture.
Auchentoshan routinely uses three copper stills—wash, intermediate and spirit—to distil its spirit three times, creating a notably light Lowland make.

History
From its beginnings
Licensed in 1823 near Glasgow, the distillery changed hands repeatedly and was rebuilt after wartime bombing before becoming known for its consistent use of triple distillation.
Auchentoshan remains an operating Scotch whisky distillery at Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire. Its present identity joins the accumulated fabric of the site to an active production tradition, while discontinued bottlings belong to the range history rather than defining the distillery today.

Identity
The character
Auchentoshan belongs to the Lowlands, but region is only a map reference. Its more informative identity comes from the production decisions above and from the way its spirit responds to maturation.
This distinction matters when reading a bottle: the distillery name identifies the origin of the spirit, while the expression, age, cask recipe and bottling strength describe the particular release.
