From its beginnings

Founded in 1881 beside the Sound of Islay, the remote distillery was built with a pier and workers' village. Road access arrived only much later.

Bunnahabhain remains an operating Scotch whisky distillery at Port Askaig, Isle of Islay. Its present identity joins the accumulated fabric of the site to an active production tradition, while discontinued bottlings belong to the range history rather than defining the distillery today.
