Caperdonich

Caperdonich was a lost Speyside distillery in Rothes. Although conceived as Glen Grant's sister plant, its spirit developed a distinct light, floral and creamy character associated with pear, mint and soft fruit.

History

The distillery record.

Built across the road from Glen Grant in 1898 as Glen Grant No. 2, it closed in 1902, returned to production in 1965, expanded to four stills in 1967 and took the Caperdonich name in 1977. Production ended in 2002; the buildings were demolished in 2011, although surviving mature stock continues to be bottled.
