History

From its beginnings

James Moir founded the distillery in 1875 near Sandend Bay. It spent much of the twentieth century silent before reopening in 2008.

Glenglassaugh remains an operating Scotch whisky distillery at Portsoy, Aberdeenshire. Its present identity joins the accumulated fabric of the site to an active production tradition, while discontinued bottlings belong to the range history rather than defining the distillery today.
