Very tall copper stills encourage extensive reflux and a light, fragrant new make; the distillery also operates The Lighthouse as a separate experimental still house and maintains a closely managed cask programme.

History

From its beginnings

William Matheson established the licensed distillery at Morangie Farm in 1843. Its modern identity was shaped by post-war expansion and sustained experimentation with wood and maturation.

Glenmorangie remains an operating Scotch whisky distillery at Tain, Ross-shire. Its present identity joins the accumulated fabric of the site to an active production tradition, while discontinued bottlings belong to the range history rather than defining the distillery today.
