From its beginnings

John Begg built New Lochnagar in 1845. A royal visit from Queen Victoria and Prince Albert three years later brought the warrant and the Royal prefix.

Royal Lochnagar remains an operating Scotch whisky distillery at Crathie, Aberdeenshire. Its present identity joins the accumulated fabric of the site to an active production tradition, while discontinued bottlings belong to the range history rather than defining the distillery today.
