History

From its beginnings

The Reid family licensed Springbank in 1828 and the Mitchell family acquired it in 1837. It remains family owned and performs malting, distillation, maturation, and bottling in Campbeltown.

Springbank remains an operating Scotch whisky distillery at Campbeltown, Argyll. Its present identity joins the accumulated fabric of the site to an active production tradition, while discontinued bottlings belong to the range history rather than defining the distillery today.
