Distinct house style

Tomatin is a soft, fruit-forward Highland malt whose spirit can move from light orchard character to richer wine- and sherry-cask maturation.
Long fermentation and upward-sloping lyne arms favour a soft, estery new make; most production is unpeated, with separately scheduled peated runs used for Cù Bòcan.

History
From its beginnings
The formal distillery company dates from 1897, although distilling in the Monadhliath foothills is believed to be older. Rapid twentieth-century expansion once made Tomatin Scotland's largest malt site.
Tomatin remains an operating Scotch whisky distillery at Tomatin, Inverness-shire. Its present identity joins the accumulated fabric of the site to an active production tradition, while discontinued bottlings belong to the range history rather than defining the distillery today.

Identity
The character
Tomatin belongs to the Highlands, but region is only a map reference. Its more informative identity comes from the production decisions above and from the way its spirit responds to maturation.
This distinction matters when reading a bottle: the distillery name identifies the origin of the spirit, while the expression, age, cask recipe and bottling strength describe the particular release.
