Donald Trump single malt?
The bottle exists—but it is a 26-year-old GlenDronach single cask made for the 2012 opening of Trump International Golf Links Scotland, not a Trump distillery whisky.
Central premise
Yes, there was a Trump Scotland single malt, but the name on the presentation case can obscure the important fact. The spirit was distilled, matured and bottled by GlenDronach in Aberdeenshire. Trump International Golf Links commissioned the release to mark the opening of its Scottish course.
It is best understood as a private commemorative bottling with unusually strong political and golf provenance—not as a separate whisky brand with its own distillery or continuing range.
The answer
GlenDronach, cask 1036.
The liquid was distilled at GlenDronach on 13 December 1985 and bottled on 25 June 2012 at 26 years old. It came from a Pedro Ximénez sherry puncheon identified as cask 1036.
The release was bottled at natural cask strength, 53.3% ABV, in 700ml bottles. Published bottle and auction records agree on an outturn of 504 bottles.
The commission
A golf-course opening captured in one cask.
The whisky was commissioned for the launch of Trump International Golf Links Scotland on the Menie Estate in Aberdeenshire. A 2011 announcement said GlenDronach master distiller Billy Walker selected the commemorative cask from the distillery's mature stocks.
That context explains the front label and case: they celebrate the resort, while the legal and production identity remains GlenDronach Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky.

The presentation notes describe deep bronze and mahogany colour, then ripe fruit, dates, honeycomb and dark chocolate, followed by Demerara sugar, fruit cake, ginger, raisins and mocha. Those are coherent markers for a long-matured GlenDronach from an active Pedro Ximénez cask.
Independent tasting records add drier leather, tobacco, nuts and savoury tones. At 53.3%, the whisky was presented without dilution to standard bottling strength, leaving the owner to add water in the glass.
Provenance
The signature changes the object.
All 504 bottles belong to the commemorative release, but only a small subset is described in market records as personally signed by Donald Trump. A signed presentation case with authentication is a different collectible from an unsigned bottle of the same cask.
Condition, fill level, bottle number, case, paperwork and signature provenance therefore matter enormously. The liquid is identical; the historical object is not.
At auction
Politics amplified a genuinely rare whisky.
An unsigned boxed bottle sold for £880 at Anderson & Garland in June 2020. A signed example attracted £6,000 at a Glasgow auction shortly before the 2017 US presidential inauguration, while other signed examples have carried ambitious estimates and retail listings.
Those figures should not be treated as a current valuation. With only 504 bottles and inconsistent signature provenance, individual results are thin and event-sensitive. The value combines rare old GlenDronach, a single-cask release, resort history and the changing significance of its named commissioner.
